False – trick question (Chinmayananda is spelled wrong)

Shreyas is path of good (i.e. long term happiness, using time to study for a test) and preyas is path of pleasure (i.e. short term happiness, i.e. using time to watch a movie when you are unprepared for the test)

Swami Sivananada taught Gurudev to live in God and Swami Tapovan taught him to reach for the beyond.

Swami Tapovan was given a basket of ladoos from a devotee. He kept it in his kutia and did not bring it out for days. Students talked and thought that Swamiji ate them all himself. Many got frustrated and left. Several days later he brought the ladoos out and the basket was completely untouched. Swamiji told Swami Chinmayananda to go offer the ladoos in the Ganges. The lesson is that if you are focused on a higher goal, you should not be so easily disturbed by wants of the body.

Swami Sivananda did a lot of Seva. He was a people person, a doctor, more loving and gentle as a teacher. Swami Tapovan was more of an introvert. He enjoyed solitude, was very disciplined, and a strict teacher.

Tapas means austerities. It is meant to help us detach from the body. One example of this is when Swami Chinmayananda travelled by foot to complete the Chardham Yatra.
