Shaanti Paath — Opening Prayer

om saha naavavatu
saha nau bhunaktu
saha veeryam karavaavahai
tejas-vinaa-vadheetamastu
maa vidvishaavahai
om shaantih shaantih shaantih.

May He cause us to enjoy,
May we exert together,
May our studies be thorough and faithful,
May we never quarrel with each other.

Guru Mantra — Guru Prayer

gurur brahmaa gurur vishNuh gurur devo maheshvarah 
gurureva param brahma tasmai shree gurave namah 
chinmayam vyaapi yat sarvam trailokyam sacharaacharam 
tat padam darshitam yena tasmai shree guruve namah 
om shaantih shaantih shaantih.

Salutations to the Divine Guru who like  Lord Brahma creates the character in us, like  Lord Vishnu protects the good qualities in us,  and like Lord Maheshwara destroys the three  evil moods and bad qualities in us. 

Salutations to that noble teacher who has made  it possible to realise Him who pervades every thing, sentient and insentient, in all the three  worlds.

Early Morning Prayer

karaagre vasate lakshmeeh 
karamadhye sarasvatee 
karamoole tu govindah 
prabhaate karadarshanam

On the tip of the fingers resides Goddess  Lakshmee, in the centre of the hand resides  Goddess Sarasvatee, and in the root of the hand  near the wrist, resides Lord Govinda Himself. Every morning one should look at one’s palms  with reverence.

Evening Prayer (After sunset, before lighting lamp)

shubham karoti kalyaaNam aarogyam  dhanasampadah
shatru-buddhi-vinaashaaya deepa jyotirnamostu te

I prostrate to that (lamp) light, which brings the  brilliance, the auspiciousness, the health, the  wealth and possessions for the destruction of  my enemy in the form of ignorance. 

Shaanti Mantra—For the wellbeing of All

om sarveshaam svastir bhavatu sarveshaam shaantir bhavatu
sarveshaam poorNam bhavatu
sarveshaam mangalam bhavatu.

May all become blessed, 
May all be peaceful, 
May all be fulfilled,  
May auspiciousness be everywhere. 

om sarve bhavantu sukhinah  sarve santu niraamayaah
sarve bhadraaNi pashyantu 
maa kashchida duhkha-bhaag bhavet.

May all be happy, 
May all be healthy, 
May all see auspiciousness,  
May none be unhappy. 

om asato maa sad gamaya tamaso maa jyotir gamaya 
mrityora maa amritam gamaya.

Lead me from Untruth to Truth, 
From darkness to light, 
And from mortality to immortality.

om poorNamadhah poorNamidam poorNaat poorNamudachyate 
poorNasya poorNamaadaaya 
poorNamevaa-vashishyate 
om shaantih shaantih shaantih 

That (God) is infinite; this (world) is whole; from the infinite the world becomes manifest. From the infinite, even if the whole is taken away, what remains again is the infinite. Om Peace Peace Peace.

Bhojan Mantra — Before meals

brahmaarpaNam brahma havih brahmaaganau brahmaNaa hutam brahmaiva tena gantavyam brahma karma samaadhinaa 

Brahman is the oblation; Brahman is the  clarified butter etc. constituting the offerings; By  Brahman is the oblation poured into the fire of  Brahman; Brahman verily shall be reached by  him who always sees Brahman in all actions.

aham vaishvaanaro bhootvaa praaNinaam deham-aashritah praaNaapaana-samaayuktah pachaamyannam chatur-vidham

om shaantih shaantih shaantih. 

Abiding in the body of living beings as Fire  (Vaishvaanara) – “I” (The Supreme Conscious ness) express myself as the warmth-of-life  (PraaNa and Aapaana) and digest the four-fold  food. Om Peace Peace Peace.

Shree Guru Stotram

akhanDa manDalaakaaram
vyaaptam yena charaacharam
tatpadam darshitam yena
tsasmai shree guruve namah

Prostrations to that noble teacher by whom that state is indicated which pervades the entire cosmos, everything animate and inanimate.

ajnaana timiraandhasya
jnaanaanjana shalaakayaa
chakshurunmeelitam yena
tasmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble teacher who with the collyrium stick of knowledge has opened the eyes of one blinded by the darkness of ignorance.

gururbrahmaa guruvishNuh 
gururdevo maheshvarah
gurureva param brahma
tasmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble teacher who is Brahma, Vishnu and Lord Parameshwara; and who is verily the Supreme Brahman.

Salutations to that noble teacher who has made it possible to realise Him by whom all that is sentient and insentient, movable and immovable, is pervaded.

Salutations to that noble teacher who has made it possible to realise Him who pervades everything, sentient and insentient, in all the three worlds.

Salutations to that noble teacher whose lotus feet are radiant with (the lustre of) the crest jewel of all Srutis, and who is the sun that causes the Vedanta Lotus (knowledge) to blossom forth.

vyomaatito niranjanah
bindunaada kalaatitah
tasmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble teacher who is ever effulgent, eternal, peaceful, beyond space, immaculate and beyond the manifest and the unmanifest.

jnaana shakti samaarudhah
tattva maalaa vibhooshitah
bhukti mukti pradaataach
tasmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble teacher who is established in the mighty knowledge and power, adorned by the garland of various principles and who is the bestower of prosperity and liberation.

anekajanma sampraaptah
karmabandha vidaahine
aatma jnaana pradaanena
tasmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble teacher, who by bestowing the knowledge of the Self, burns up the bondage created by accumulated actions of innumerable births.

na guroradhikam tattvam
na guruoradhikam tapah
tattva jnaanaat param naasti
tasmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble Guru, than whom there is no higher Truth. There is no higher penance than service to the Guru and there is nothing higher than Realisation of God.

madguruh shree jagadguruh
madaatmaa sarva bhootaatmaa
tasmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble Guru who is my Lord and the noble Lord of the Universe, my teacher and the teacher of the Universe, who is the Self in me and Self in all beings.

gururaa-diranaa-dishcha
guruh prama-daivatam
guroh parataram naasti
tsmai shree guruve namah

Salutations to that noble Guru who is the beginning of the Universe, but who is himself without a beginning. Guru is the Supreme Deity. There is none higher than the Guru.

tvameva maataa cha pitaa tvameva
tvameva bandhushcha sakhaa tvameva
tvameva vidyaa draviNam tvameva
tvameva sarvam mama deva deva

O Guru, You are my mother and my father, my family and friends, the source of all knowledge and prosperity. You are the Lord of all and my Lord.

divya roopa moorati karuNa kee
aarati sadguru kee

We offer prayers to our Shree Chinmaya
Sadguru. In whom divinity and compassion are personified.

veda upanishad geeta ko gayaa
dharma sanaatana phir se jagaayaa
shudha neeti preeti shankara kee
aarati shree chinmaya sadguru kee
aarati sadguru kee.

 

Chanting the Vedas, Upanishads and Geeta, he rekindled the light of the Sanatan dharma. He expounded the logic of Shree Shankara’s philosophy. We offer prayers to our Shree Chinmaya Sadguru.

siddhabaari kee tapobhumi me
nitya biraaje guru hamaare
bhakta hridaya aananda srota kee
aarati shree chinmaya sadguru kee
aarati sadguru kee.

Our revered Gurudev resides eternally in the Tapobhumi of Siddhabari and is the eternal source of bliss in the hearts of his devotees. We offer prayers to our Shree Chinmaya Sadguru.
